About Pochos Charters in Cabo San Lucas

ABOUT POCHOS CHARTERS

Back in the 1990's, an avid sport fisherman by the name of Carlos Vasquez discovered the amazing fishery that is Cabo San Lucas. It wasn't a secret but for those who came to fish this miraculous stretch of Baja coastline, it was something to behold. Few places in the world could afford you the opportunity to hop aboard a boat and head out of the marina and be on the fish within minutes. Often you'd find startling numbers of billfish just 3-4 miles from the docks. Tuna and dorado would school up tight to shore stirring the waters into a frothy frenzy of baitfish crashing the surface as pelagic species would drive them up and corral their prey. All you had to do was cast a bait or troll lures by these feeding frenzies and boom.... you'd be hooked up! Carlos was hooked as well.

It was soon after his first few Cabo fishing trips that he decided he needed his own boat. One boat became two, then three as his friends, and their friends too, got hooked on Cabo's intense fishing action. What was just a hobby became a business and a distinct passion for providing folks from all around the chance to catch trophy class fish.

Pochos multiple tournament wins in Los Cabos fishing touraments

Carlos and the Captains and crew members of the Pochos fleet honed their skills and began competing in many of the fishing tournaments that take place in Cabo each year. Soon, they had several visits to the winner's stage in the Los Cabos Offshore, Bisbee's East Cape and Bisbee's Black and Blue tournaments – the Black and Blue being the richest fishing tournament on the planet. To date, teams fishing aboard Pochos boats have taken more than $1.4 Million in winnings with much of that going to growing and improving Pochos Charters fleet.

Boats take off on shotgun start at Bisbee's Black and Blue
The excitement of the shotgun start at the Bisbee's Black and Blue is palpable but it doesn't touch the thrill of collecting a big check. Pochos boat, Bad Market, finished in 4th place in the 2005 Black and Blue and took home a check for $397,215 in that event.
